Your Future Team

This role reports to the Head of Business Insights within the People Insights team and is primarily responsible for supporting the Teamwork Lab at Atlassian. The role also partners closely with People Research and with Product teams.

The People Insights team is a cross-disciplinary group of analysts, data scientists, behavioral scientists, researchers and business partners, who use data and research to inform strategic and operational issues facing our leaders, teams, and people.

The Teamwork Lab is Atlassian’s research and experimentation hub for how modern teams work, with a focus on distributed and AI-powered collaboration. They create evidence-based practices and thought leadership that help teams work smarter together.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Define, understand, and test opportunities to influence roadmaps and drive decision making at Atlassian

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to inform, influence, and execute strategy decision, and become a trusted strategic partner through the structure and clarity of your work

  • Apply technical expertise with hypothesis development, analytical methodologies, and the presentation of data to develop strategies for our business and help solve the business's biggest challenges

  • Scale actionable insights from people data by helping to enhance the data infrastructure, and innovating automated processes, analyses, and products

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years of Experience in Data Science or related fields

  • Serving as a data engineer when needed — sourcing the right data across systems, cleaning and transforming it, and creating new, user-ready data tables tailored to each project’s needs

  • Experience conducting network analysis / organizational network analysis (ONA) to understand collaboration patterns and inform people and workplace strategies

  • Proficiency in SQL and another data manipulation programming language (e.g. Python, R)

  • Familiarity with at least one visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Streamlit, Databricks, Hex)

  • Experience in applying statistical concepts to business problems

  • Proven ability to translate data into compelling and easy-to-understand insights, stories, and narratives that resonate with technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience driving projects or programs which have had proven impact on business strategy and performance through your analytics skills

  • Thrives in ambiguity, quickly structuring unclear asks into logical, actionable steps that drive progress toward a shared goal

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 7+ Years of Experience in Data Science or related fields OR 5+ Years of experience in Data Science along with a post-graduate degree or equivalent in a related field

  • Experience with establishing metrics frameworks

  • Experience with data quality assessment, and the development of data infrastructure and downstream data solutions

  • Experience with work automation or AI implementation, report generation, and basic API interaction to solve business problems

  • Ability to use Git to collaborate with others and contribute to dynamic codebases

  • Experience working with people data (e.g., HR data, survey data, human behavior data) in an applied setting

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: USD 175500 - USD 229125

Zone B: USD 158400 - USD 206800

Zone C: USD 145800 - USD 190350

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
