As the EMEA Absence & Reintegration Coordinator at Atlassian, you will play a central, hands-on, and coaching role in supporting employees, managers, HR, and other stakeholders throughout the absence management process for the EMEA region.
You will guide and advise on individual cases and broader absence prevention strategies, helping the company adopt a proactive approach to managing absenteeism.
You will provide both solicited and unsolicited advice, ensuring compliance with local legislation and Atlassian’s policies, and facilitate a smooth return-to-work process.
In this role, you'll be responsible for:
Manage and coordinate all activities related to (complex) absence cases, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., Wet Verbetering Poortwachter in the Netherlands and EMEA regulations).
Oversee the entire absence process from initial notification through to recovery or external assessment decisions.
Manage long-term sick leave cases, including development and execution of reintegration plans.
Act as the main point of contact for external occupational health & safety service providers, medical professionals, reintegration partners, and other vendors.
Liaise with external agencies (e.g., UWV, insurers), managers, and internal HR partners regarding absence cases to ensure successful accommodation of work reintegration plans.
Monitor adherence to policies, guidelines, and legal requirements regarding absence management, long-term illness, and sickness benefits.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting to meet legal requirements.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to medical checks, absenteeism, reintegration, and employee satisfaction.
Escalate complex or non-compliant cases to the relevant team.
Design and implement scalable, standardized processes for absence, occupational health, and accommodation management across EMEA.
Identify and drive process optimizations to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.
Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance absence management and prevention.
Create, review, and update internal standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles with high attention to detail and quality.
Provide support and resources to managers and employees on health & safety, absenteeism, and reintegration.
Ensure clear, consistent communication of legal obligations, employee rights, and company policies.
Contribute ideas and solutions to promote sustainable employability and well-being of employees.
Support employees and managers with additional needs, including reintegration plans, ergonomic assessments, and rehabilitation reimbursements, by coordinating with external vendors and internal teams.
Generate absence analytics and provide recommendations for improvement to leadership.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in absence management, occupational health, employee relations, HR project management, or a similar HR role, ideally in a dynamic, fast-paced, international/EMEA environment.
Proven ability to manage complex absence cases and processes, including coordination with external providers and stakeholders.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Law, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies:
High integrity and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Strong empathy, analytical skills, and the ability to maintain oversight.
Comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable, and proactive with a solution-oriented attitude.
Able to work independently and confidently address behavior and responsibilities with stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and other EU language; Dutch language skills are a plus.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with vendors and internal teams.
Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve HR or absence management processes
High attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and maintaining procedures.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to switch between operational and strategic thinking.
Proactive, solution-oriented attitude and can work independently.
Technical Skills:
Experience working with Workday, HRIS and Google Workspace.
Bachelor’s degree supplemented with relevant certifications (e.g., Case Manager).
Familiarity with Dutch or other EMEA absence regulations.
Experience working in a multinational or matrixed organization.
Knowledge of other HRIS, absence management, or case management systems.
Certification in HR, Occupational Health, Law, or a related field.
Additional EMEA language skills (e.g., Dutch, German, French).

Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.
158,400 - 206,800 PLN annually
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
