We are a multi-stream team in the Growth Organisation, focusing on driving business and customer growth for Atlassian. We own the discovery, signup, and activation of Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, Loom, and Teamwork Collection amongst existing Atlassian customers.
As a Principal Engineer in the Growth team, you will bring a strong product mindset, data proficiency, and a track record of demonstrating cross-functional and cross-team leadership. You will be responsible for leading your team to explore, build, ship, and measure experiments that aim to drive growth and engagement. You will partner closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers across Atlassian to validate hypotheses that impact millions of users, and the business’s growth targets.
As an experimentation team, we don’t own production services and don’t have a traditional on-call roster. Instead, we focus on rapid iteration and measurable impact, working across the Atlassian tech stack and diving into whatever product/platform is required for us to chase the biggest opportunities.
Own the delivery of a stream of diverse projects (experiments, platform contributions, data initiatives), providing technical leadership and direction to other engineers within and outside the team.
Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, and design leaders to influence strategy, and execute towards growth goals.
Collaborate across teams and orgs to ship experiments and experiences wherever we identify the biggest opportunities.
Inspire innovation, as well engineering and operational excellence.
Mentor and grow engineers to build a world-class team.
Experience working in growth and/or experimentation is highly desirable.
Data mastery and experience with SQL, statistics, and data analysis is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience in software/technology roles, with a focus on enterprise cloud products and solutions.
Strong expertise in full stack development (e.g., React, TypeScript, Node.js, Java, or similar modern frameworks).
Proven ability to drive technical strategy that balances short- and long-term objectives and aligns with business outcomes.
Demonstrated experience collaborating across organisational boundaries to drive impact.
Experience with fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Success in mentoring and developing engineering talent.
